Vote for the Arizona Trail!

I received multiple e-mails yesterday about a contest for the Arizona Trail to win a $50,000 grant for trail improvements.  The project with the most votes by the end of May will receive the grant, and until two days ago, the Arizona Trail was in the lead.

The AZT needs your help!  It’s easy to vote and you can do so online and by text messaging.  You may vote twice per day (once by phone and once online).  In fact, you can vote this way every day through the end of May.  Please visit: http: //www.blazethetrail.com/greatoutdoors/vote/

The AZT is a great system of trails throughout the entire state of Arizona, and it’s almost completed.  It’s a great adventure for cyclists, hikers, and equestrians, and it can be done as one epic adventure from Mexico to Utah, or it can be done in little segments.  Either way, please support the AZT with your vote.

Barn Burner 100+ Endurance MTB Race

Looking for an epic weekend on the mountain bike, or just a few fun laps with friends?  Well the Barn Burner 100+ Endurance MTB Race is coming up in Flagstaff on June 19-21, 2009.  The event can be done as solo, 2-person, or 4-person teams.

The race info is as follows:

RACE FEATURES

  • A darn cool tee
  • Awards 3 Deep Overall and 3 deep per race division

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

This is a 104 mile endurance mountain bike event.  The course is a 26 mile loop, and is on Forest Service roads.  The course is not technically challenging, but you are riding at altitude, in cooler weather, with cool people and camping out – what more can you ask for…and there are a few sketchy spots, just to keep you on your toes.  This course will be considered a “roady” mountain bike course, meaning it is beginner friendly and fast for those with more experience/endurance/EPO/whiskey.   Riders will start Lemans style, running to your trusty steed and heading out on a wild west adventure!  All riders will check in at the Barn at the completion of each loop and either change riders or simply check in before continuing onward.
